極右翼国粋思想とドイツナチズムに心酔した父親の過激思想と家庭内暴力の中で育った山中知義牧師が、如何にイエス・キリストとの出会いを通して、その暗闇から解放されたかという体験談です。
1971年、兵庫県神戸市生まれ。武士道を重んじる厳格な家系に育つ。代々受け継がれてきた人生観、生命観、世界観に疑問を感じていたところ、アメリカ人宣教師、故メアリー・エレン・グデマン師（TEAM）を通してキリスト教と出会う。このとき、即時に回心したわけではなかったが、人生の意味と目的を求める旅の始まりとなった。
1992年、Evangelism Explosionと呼ばれる教会の弟子訓練中に、超自然的な体験をし、結果、イエス・キリストにある自分の救いを確信するに至る。
米国ペンシルバニア州ハリスバーグ地域大学で報道写真、州立インディアナ大学で政治学を学び、1996年にランカスター聖書大学を卒業。2001年にニューヨーク州Alliance Theological Seminaryで修士号を取得。当時のビジョンは、東欧や中国などの共産圏で宣教師として仕えることだったが、最終的には、日本に戻り自国の人々に福音を伝えることが神の召しであると確信した。
帰国後、長野県、横浜市、大阪府、京都府の４箇所で教会開拓と牧会に奉職。地域教会の役割と目的に対する情熱から、「The Ship: 寓話的教会論」（文芸社・ツラノ書院）を執筆出版。
現在、Kyoto International Churchの主任牧師。超教派ミニストリーEvangelism Explosion Japanのナショナル・ディレクター。薬物等の中毒者回復ミニストリーであるティーン・チャレンジ・ジャパンの理事。Experience Kendo代表（毎週二度外国人のための剣道クラスを指導）

Kyoto International Churchの信仰声明文
Kyoto International Church（KIC）は、超教派的かつ多国籍な教会としての性格上、その信仰声明は広義の福音主義に立つものです。しかしながら、この信仰声明は、KICのすべての働きを導き、支える極めて重要な信仰的基盤であると私たちは認識しています。
KICの教会員および教会の奉仕に携わる者は、この広義でありながらも基本的な福音主義信仰の声明に同意することが求められます。これは、福音主義信仰の枠内における個々人の聖書解釈や神学的理解の違いを否定するものではありません。むしろ、異なる背景や見解を持つ福音主義者たちが、共通する基本的真理と福音宣教の目的において一致し、共に主に仕えることを励ますものです。
・聖書は、神の霊感を受けた誤りなき神のことばであり、信仰と生活に関する唯一にして最終的な権威です。
・神は、父、子、聖霊の三位一体において永遠に存在する唯一の神です。
・私たちの主イエス・キリストは、完全な神であり、同時に完全な人である、唯一のお方です。
・イエスは処女マリアから生まれ、罪のない人生を生き、奇跡を行い、人類の罪の贖いとして血を流し、十字架で死なれました。そして、肉体を持って死から復活し、天に昇り、父なる神の右に座しておられます。また、やがて力と栄光をもって再臨されます。
・失われた罪人が救われるためには、聖霊による新生が絶対に必要です。
・永遠のいのちは、神の恵みにより、信仰を通してのみ受けることができます。すなわち、救いの賜物を受けるためには、イエス・キリストにのみ救いの根拠と信頼を置かなければなりません。
・永遠のいのちは、神の恵みにより、イエス・キリストへの信仰によってのみ受けることができます。
・聖霊はすべての真実な信仰者のうちに宿り、彼らが敬虔な生活を送るための力を与えてくださいます。
・救われた者も、失われた者も、死から復活します。救われた者はいのちへの復活を経験し、失われた者は永遠の裁きへの復活を経験します。
・すべての真実な信仰者には、主イエス・キリストにあって霊的一致があります。
・地域教会とは、神がこの世における主要な宣教活動拠点として設けられたものです。
・すべての真実な信仰者には、「すべての造られた者に福音を宣べ伝えなさい」「全世界に出て行き、弟子を作りなさい」というキリストの大宣教命令が与えられています。
・弟子養育とは、聖書の学びに加え、礼拝、祈り、伝道、隣人愛、奉仕などの現場で、経験豊かな者から学ぶ「実地訓練」を通して、最も効果的に行われます。
KIC Statement of Faith
Kyoto International Church（KIC）, as an interdenominational and multinational church, holds a Statement of Faith that stands within the broad stream of evangelical Christianity. At the same time, we recognize this Statement of Faith as a vital foundation that guides and supports all the ministries of the church.
Those who gather at KIC, especially members of the church and those involved in its ministries, are asked to affirm this broad yet basic statement of evangelical faith. This affirmation is not intended to deny or invalidate individual interpretations of Scripture or theological perspectives within the framework of evangelical faith. Rather, it seeks to unite evangelical believers from diverse backgrounds and with diverse views around shared fundamental truths and the mission of proclaiming the gospel, so that they may serve the Lord together.
The Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, enduring for all generations, and is the sole and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
God exists eternally as the one true God, revealed in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man, uniquely one of a kind.
Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, shed His blood as an atonement for humanity’s sins, and died on the cross. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father. He will return in power and glory.
Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for the salvation of lost sinners.
Eternal life is a gift of God’s grace, received solely through faith. Salvation is granted only to those who place their full trust in Jesus Christ as the one and only source of redemption.
The Holy Spirit dwells within all true believers, empowering them to live godly lives and walk in obedience to Christ.
Both the saved and the lost will experience bodily resurrection. The saved will rise to eternal life, while the lost will rise to face eternal judgment.
All true believers are spiritually united in our Lord Jesus Christ, sharing a bond that transcends all divisions.
The local church is the primary vehicle established by God to carry out the mission of evangelism in the world.
All true believers are entrusted with Christ’s Great Commission: “Proclaim the gospel to all creation” and “Go and make disciples of all nations.”
Discipleship is most effectively carried out not only through the study of Scripture but also through practical “on-the-job training.” This involves learning from and working alongside experienced believers in the contexts of worship, prayer, evangelism, love of neighbor, service, and leadership.
